For this tutorial you will need to have basic knowledge of Paint Shop Pro. (My illustrations and instructions are written using version 7, but you should be able to comprehend with any version).

SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN!

Part 1: Outline

Open up a new transparent canvas 200 X 200 pixels (which is about twice the size of the sprite).
Activate paintbrush with these settings:

Outline colors:
Dress and shoes: #576535
Skin (face, ears, arms, legs and body): #C89979
Hair: #694A31
Antennas: #845E3F

Below are illustrations to follow for pixeling the outline:

Part 2: Fill
Hair:
Activate Magic wand , click on transparent area inside of hair. Flood fill with color #7F583E.

Selections, float (see illustration):
Image

Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Cut out using these settings:
Vertical 0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 5, Shadow color: #694A31.

Do NOT deselect.

Go to Effects, Noise, Noise at 5%, Uniform.

Deselect and save.

Face:

Activate magic wand, click on inside of face. Flood fill with color #F7BE90.
Go to Selections, Float.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Cut out using these settings:
Vertical 0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 5, Shadow color: #C89979.

Do NOT deselect.

Blush:

While the ants around the face are still active, go to Layers, add new raster layer. Change your pallette color to: #E9A795.

Click on airbrush using these settings:

Click on both cheeks until you get the amount of blush you desire.
Go to Effects, Blur, Gaussian blur, Radius 1.0
Deselect. Go to Layers, Merge, Merge visible.
Save.

Ears:
Activate magic wand. Holding down shift key, click inside of each ear. (Don't forget the tiny single pixel areas that need activated too!)
Flood fill with color: #F7BE90

Go to Selections, Float.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Cutout using these settings:
Vertical 0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 2, Shadow color: #C89979.
Deselect and save.

Legs, body and arms:
Activate magic wand. Holding down shift key, click on each section of the legs, arms and body until all skin areas are activated.
Flood fill with color: #F7BE90

Go to Selections, Float.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Cutout using these settings: Vertical 0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 8, Shadow color: #C89979.
Deselect and save.

Dress:
Activate Magic wand. Click inside of dress area.
Flood fill with color: #80974F

Go to Selections, Float.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Cutout using these settings:
Vertical 0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 8, Shadow color: #576535.
Deselect and save.

Shoes:
Activate Magic wand. Hold down shift key and click on all areas inside shoes. (Don't forget the tiny single pixel areas that need activated too!)
Flood fill with color: #80974F.

Go to Selections, Float.
Go to Effects, 3D Effects, Cutout using these settings:
Vertical 0, Horizontal 0, Opacity 100, Blur 2, Shadow color: #576535.
Deselect and save.

Part 3: Detail
Eyes, nose and mouth:

Follow the illustrations below for color #'s and placement on face:

Eyeshadow:

Go to Layers, Add new raster layer.
Change color pallette to color #C0C0FF.
See illustrations below:

On your layer pallette, lower the eyeshadow layer to 50% opacity. See setting below:

Go to Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.
Save.

Part 4: Shading
Dress waist:

Go to Layers, add new raster layer. Change color pallette to color #9DB070. See illustration below for placement:

Go to Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur, Radius 1.0
Go to Layers, Merge, Merge visible. Save.

Shadows:

Go to Layers, add new raster layer. Change color pallette to color #576535. See illustrations below:

Go to Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur, Radius 1.0

Go to Layers, Merge, Merge visible. Save.

Shadow under chin:

Go to Layers. Add new raster layer. Change color pallette to color #C89979. See illustrations below:

Go to Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur, Radius 0.75
Go to Layers, Merge, Merge visible. Save.

You're all set to use your little Pixeled Sprite!
