SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN!
Make SURE your layer palette is showing. If you don't see it, click on this icon:

If you don't have that icon showing, you will need to click on 'View', then click on 'Tool Bars' and make sure your Layer palette box is check marked.
"A picture is worth a thousand words"....... Because of the extent of this tutorial and trying to explain every little detail, there will be ALOT of illustrations for referrals. Please don't be intimidated by this....they are there to make this tutorial so much easier.

Colors we will be using for this tutorial (but you may use any colors of your choice in place of these):
Open up a new transparent canvas. 200 X 200. Paint brush setting at size 1. On your Layer Palette, right click on that layer and rename it Envelope1.

Once you've made your Flap outline and filled it in, right click on that layer and duplicate (OR click on Layers, then click Duplicate). Rename the copied layer as Flap2. On your Layer Palette, move Flap2 below your Flap 1 layer and hide, so only Flap1 layer is the only layer showing. Activate (highlight) your Flap 1 layer. click on 'Image', then click 'Flip'.
Unhide your Envelope 1 layer. (Flap 1 and Envelope 1 layers will be the only layers showing at this point). With your mover tool, move your Flap1 layer so the top edge is aligned directly over the top edge of the Envelope1 layer:
Once you've lined up the lines, click on your Envelope1 layer to make that your active layer. Click on Merge, Merge Visible and rename your layer as Envelope1. (That layer should still be on the bottom, below your Envelope2 and Flap2 layers).

****************
Now, we have two complete Envelopes.....One with the Flap up and the other with the Flap down.
For this particular animated graphic, there will only be 1 frame of Envelope1, so that particular layer will be hidden during most of this tutorial;
For now, hide your Envelope2 layer. Open a New Raster Layer and name it BigHeart1.
Big Heart Outline:
Big Heart Outline color: #800000
Big Heart Fill:
Activate your magic wand. Click inside the heart. Floodfill with color #FFC0C0. Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut out, using the following settings:
Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100%
Blur = 20
Shadow color = #800000
Fill Interior Box UNCHECKED.
Click OK, then deselect (Selections, Select None).
Make sure your layer is still named BigHeart1. If not, rename your layer to BigHeart1 again.
This would be the time to add any pretties or wording to your heart. For this tutorial, I used the font; EnviroD, size 12 and Kerning set at 45.....but you can use anything you wish. For this small of a graphic, on your paint palette, you would need to Null your Foreground and use only your Background color for your words.
Now we need to line up this heart over the rectangular section of the envelope. Make sure the sides and bottom are within the envelope area. Once you've done that, it will be time to start duplicating that heart.....
Right click on your BigHeart1 layer and duplicate several times until you have a total of 7 BigHeart Layers (including the original). Starting with the layer above the Big Heart1 layer, right click and rename that layer; BigHeart2. Continue going up the layers, renaming them with their respective layer number;
Unhide the Envelope2 and the BigHeart1 Layers. Activate (highlight) the BigHeart1 layer. With your arrow, move the opacity of that layer to the left so you only see a faint picture of Big Heart1 layer. With your eraser tool, erase all the section of the Big Heart that is in the big area of the envelope (See illustration below)
Once you've erased that particular section from Layer BigHeart1, raise the opacity back to 100%.
Unhide your BigHeart2 Layer. At this point, you might want to zoom in a bit (500%) to see better what needs done next.
With your mover tool, move BigHeart2 UP 6 spaces from where BigHeart1 is. Hide BigHeart1 Layer. Lower opacity of BigHeart2 layer. Erase all the section of the Big Heart that is in the big area of the envelope. Once complete, raise opacity back to 100%.
Unhide your BigHeart3 Layer.
With your mover tool, move BigHeart3 UP to match up to BigHeart2. From there, move UP 6 spaces from where BigHeart2 is. Hide BigHeart2 Layer. Lower opacity of BigHeart3 layer. Erase all the section of the Big Heart that is in the big area of the envelope. Once complete, raise opacity back to 100%.
Unhide your BigHeart4 Layer.
With your mover tool, move BigHeart4 UP to match up to BigHeart3. From there, move UP 6 spaces from where BigHeart3 is. Hide BigHeart3 Layer. Lower opacity of BigHeart4 layer. Erase all the section of the Big Heart that is in the big area of the envelope. Once complete, raise opacity back to 100%
Unhide your BigHeart5 Layer.
With your mover tool, move BigHeart5 UP to match up to BigHeart4. From there, move UP 6 spaces from where BigHeart4 is. Hide BigHeart4 Layer. Lower opacity of BigHeart5 layer. Erase all the section of the Big Heart that is in the big area of the envelope. Once complete, raise opacity back to 100%.
Unhide your BigHeart6 Layer.
With your mover tool, move BigHeart6 UP to match up to BigHeart5. From there, move UP 6 spaces from where BigHeart5 is. Hide BigHeart5 Layer. Lower opacity of BigHeart6 layer. Erase all the section of the Big Heart that is in the big area of the envelope. Once complete, raise opacity back to 100%
Unhide your BigHeart7 Layer.
With your mover tool, move BigHeart7 UP to match up to BigHeart6. From there, move UP 6 spaces from where BigHeart6 is. Hide BigHeart6. This Heart layers shouldn't have to need any erasing.
Hide all your Big Heart layers AND your Envelope2 layer. Open up a New Raster layer and name it SmallHearts.
Small Hearts Outline:
Small Hearts outline color: #800000
Small Hearts Fill:
While pressing down on your Shift key, activate your magic wand and click inside each of the hearts. Floodfill with color #FFC0C0. Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut out, using the following settings:
Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100%
Blur = 5
Shadow color = #800000
Fill Interior Box UNCHECKED.
Click OK, then deselect (Selections, Select None).
Hide your Small Hearts layer.
Unhide your Envelope2 layer.
Right click on your Envelope2 layer and duplicate several times until you have a total of 9 Envelope2 Layers (including the original). Click on your Envelope2 layer and rename it to Envelope2-1. Click on the Layer above that and rename it Envelope2-2. Click on the layer above that one and rename it Envelope2-3 and so forth and so on until you have renamed all the copies (and the original) up to Envelope2-9;
Now we get to put it all together! Whew!
Hide ALL your layers EXCEPT Envelope2-1 and BigHeart1. Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope2. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-2 and BigHeart2. Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope3. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-3 and BigHeart3. Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope4. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-4 and BigHeart4. Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope5. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-5 and BigHeart5. Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope6. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-6 and BigHeart6. Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope7. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-7 and BigHeart7. Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope8. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-8 and SmallHearts. With your mover tool, move your Small Hearts so they are postioned on the Envelope similar to this illustration:
Highlight the Envelope layer. Right click and Merge, Merge visible. Rename that layer Envelope9. Hide that layer.
Unhide Envelope 2-9 and rename that layer Envelope10.
Unhide Envelope1 and all envelope2 layers (so ALL layers are showing). Save your graphic as a PaintShopPro Image (psp image):
NOW it's time to head on over to the Animation Shop!
Open up your psp image in Animation Shop. No matter what the speed you have set as your default for your frames in Animation Shop, we will need to adjust the speed of each frame to get it to look "right". *(My Animation Shop is set at frame speed 10 as the default, so I didn't need to change all the frame speeds in this graphic)
Your graphic is now 10 frames (instead of the 10 layers in PSP). To individually change each frame to the speed you want, you will need to activate your arrow tool.
Frame 1: Click on the 1st frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 100.
Frame 2: Click on the 2nd frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 30.
Frame 3: Click on the 3rd frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 10. *(Unless your Animation Shop Frame speed is already set at speed 10, then you won't have to worry about this frame)
Frame 4: Click on the 4th frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 10. *(Unless your Animation Shop Frame speed is already set at speed 10, then you won't have to worry about this frame)
Frame 5: Click on the 5th frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 10. *(Unless your Animation Shop Frame speed is already set at speed 10, then you won't have to worry about this frame)
Frame 6: Click on the 6th frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 10. *(Unless your Animation Shop Frame speed is already set at speed 10, then you won't have to worry about this frame)
Frame 7: Click on the 7th frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 10. *(Unless your Animation Shop Frame speed is already set at speed 10, then you won't have to worry about this frame)
Frame 8: Click on the 8th frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 100.
Frame 9: Click on the 9th frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 100.
Frame 10: Click on the 10th frame to highlight it (or activate it). Click on 'Animation', then click on 'Frame Properties' and type in the displayed time as 50.
You may want to change the speed around to suit your tastes! You can also add a name or anything you wish to your tag from here. It is entirely up to you!
Once you have your graphic the way you want, save it as a gif!
And that's it!
I hope you enjoyed this Tutorial!
