Thank you & Have fun!

For this tutorial you will need to have basic knowledge of Paint Shop Pro. (My illustrations and instructions are written using version 7, but you should be able to comprehend with any version).

SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN!
You will need to load into your PSP, the PlugIn Filter: MuRa's Meister > Copies 1.3 PlugIn Filter
********

Open up a 200 X 200 Transparent canvas.

Set your Paint Pallette with Foreground in Black (#000000), Background Null. See illustration:
Image

Select your Draw Tool (Your pen): Image With these settings:
Image

Starting at the top middle of your canvas, draw a squiggly line all the way to the bottom middle of your canvas. It might look similar to this:
Image (but of course EVERY doilie will be one of a kind since no squiggly line made, will be exactly like any other before or after)

Now we want to center that squiggly line EXACTLY in the middle of the canvas. I find the easiest way is; Click 'Edit', then click 'Cut'. Click 'Edit' again, then click 'Paste'....as new layer. We will want to duplicate this squiggly line; Click 'Layers', then click duplicate.
Click 'Image', then click 'Mirror'. It will look similar to this:
Image
Note: Your drawing may or may not have the loose ends at both or either ends. Those will need to be erased. (See illustration):
Image
Click 'Layers', 'Merge', 'Merge Visible' and then erase those ends.

At this point, save your squiggle as a psp image. Open up a 400 X 400 transparent canvas. Copy your squiggle and paste as a new layer on to your new larger canvas. With your mover tool, move your squiggle up to the top middle of your canvas.
Click 'Layers', then 'Duplicate'. Then click 'Image', then click 'Flip. With your mover tool, move the duplicate squiggle up to butt up against your original squiggle
Click 'Layers', 'Merge', 'Merge Visible'. (This illustration is 50% the actual size):
Image

Let's color it in and add some dimension to it now......
(You should only have 1 layer). Click 'Selections', then 'Select All'. Click 'Selections', then 'Float'. Click 'Selections', then 'Defloat'. (The marching ants should be around your squiggle). For this tutorial, I am choosing a Metallic gradient for the color, but you may choose to use any color or gradient you wish. (Eventually, you might want to play around with this and experiment with several different colors/gradients/patterns). If you are using a gradient, you might want to use these settings - Sunburst (but this is not mandatory):
Image

Floodfill, by clicking directly on top of your squiggle, with your color or gradient. Do NOT Deselect. For the Dimension >> Click 'Effects', '3D Effects', then 'Inner Bevel', using these settings:
Image

Now you may Deselect ('Selections', 'Select None') We'll need to align this large squiggle EXACTLY to the center of this canvas so.....
Click 'Edit', then 'Cut'. Click 'Edit', then 'Paste.....As New Layer'. Click 'Layers', 'Merge', 'Merge Visible'.

Now it's time to make our Doilie!

Click 'Layers', then 'Duplicate'. Click 'Image', then 'Rotate' 90 degrees using these settings:
Image

With that layer active, click 'Layers', then 'Duplicate'. Click 'Image', then 'Rotate' 45 degrees using these settings:
Image

With that layer active, Click 'Layers', then 'Duplicate. Click 'Image', then 'Mirror'. Then click 'Layers', 'Merge', Merge Visible. It should look like a snowflake.
(This illustration is 50% the actual size):
Image

At this point, you should save this as a psp image. If you haven't already done so, this would be the time to upload the MuRa's Meister Copies 1.3 PlugIn Filter into your Paint Program.
Open your Doilie Squiggle Snowflake image. Open up The MuRa's Meister Copies PlugIn Filter. See illustration (Reminder - This is based on PSP 7 program, so the filter will be in a different area/set up in any other PSP or PhotoShop programs):
Image

Use the following settings in this Filter:
IMPORTANT >>> Make SURE you change all the 100 settings (in #5) to 0's and change the 1st and 5th setting to 20!
Image
(Note: Sometimes, when making these particular settings, it will change on you, so you would have to go back and correct and redo....that is why they are numbered.....it's best if they are done in this particular order)

This is basically how it will look:
Image

You could call it quits and have a nice doilie like this OR.....

You can duplicate that layer; 'Click Layer', then 'Duplicate'. Then click 'Image', 'Rotate',
23%. See illustration:
Image

...And it would look similar to this:
Image

OR....

Going back to your original layer, Click 'Layers', then 'Duplicate'. Then click 'Image', then click 'Mirror'. It will look similar to this:
Image

OR.....

Merge visible your layers on this last doilie. Then Duplicate the layer. Then Rotate it 23% It will look similar to this:
Image

The possibilities are endless on what you can do with these doilies. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and hope it wasn't too confusing to any of you. For most of you that are intermediate PSPers and have a newer program than PSP7, you will be able to get around this tutorial fairly well. Alot of the selections and tools are in different areas, but they are there in all programs.

Thank you for trying out my tutorial!

Hugs and smiles
