For this tutorial you will need to have basic knowledge of Paint Shop Pro. (My illustrations and instructions are written using version 7, but you should be able to comprehend with any version).

SAVE YOUR WORK OFTEN!

Colors we will be using for this tutorial (but you may use any colors of your choice in place of these):

Open up a new transparent canvas. 100 X 100. Paint brush setting at size 1. (Color #C0C0C0)
**Note: All Shadow colors will be the same colors used for the outlines EXCEPT the hat band.

Body Outline:

Fill:
Head - Activate Magic wandImage . Click inside head. Flood fill Image with the color white.

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 0
Horizontal 0
Opacity 100%
Blur 5
Shadow color - Lt Gray (#C0C0C0)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. **** Deselect **** If you choose to add blush, DO NOT DESELECT at this point, but add a new Raster layer and name it blush. Use any color you choose for your snowman blush and place it on his face wherever you choose. For this tutorial, I used color #FF8080. Enlarged illustration for placement can be found at the bottom of this tutorial. Click Effects, Blur, Gaussian blur with a Radius of .75) NOW you can Deselect. Merge, Merge Visible.

Body - Activate your magic wand Image. Click inside of body. Flood fill Image with the color White.

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 1
Horizontal 0
Opacity 100%
Blur 5
Shadow color - Lt. Gray (#C0C0C0)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Leg showing to your left- Activate your magic wandImage . Click inside of leg. Flood fillImage with the color White.

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 1
Horizontal -1
Opacity 100%
Blur 5
Shadow color - Lt. Gray (#C0C0C0)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Leg showing to your right- Activate your magic wand Image. Click inside of leg. Flood fill Image with the color White.

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 1
Horizontal 1
Opacity 100%
Blur 5
Shadow color - Lt. Gray (#C0C0C0)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Both Gloves- Activate your magic wand Image. While pressing down on your shift key, Click inside each of the gloves. Flood fill Image with the color Dk Gray (#808080).

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 1
Horizontal 0
Opacity 100%
Blur 5
Shadow color - Black (#000000)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Add a new Raster layer and name it Nose.

Nose Illustration:

This is all one color orange: (#E76A05)

With your mover tool, move the nose up between the mouth and eyes. (Wherever it looks good to you) Enlarged illustration for placement can be found at the bottom of this tutorial.

Add a new Raster layer and name it Buttons.

These are black, but you may choose any color you wish. Enlarged illustration for placement can be found at the bottom of this tutorial.

Add a new Raster Layer and name it scarf. (Color #8000000)

Scarf Outline:

Fill:

Top of Scarf (around neck)- Activate your magic wand Image. While pressing down on your shift key, Click inside both areas of the top part of the scarf around the neck. Flood fill Image with the color Red (#C00000).

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 0
Horizontal 0
Opacity 100%
Blur 3.8
Shadow color - Dk Red (#800000)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Bottom of Scarf (left side)- Activate your magic wandImage . Click inside area of the left side of the scarf underneath neck area. Flood fill Image with the color Red (#C00000).

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 1
Horizontal 0
Opacity 100%
Blur 3.8
Shadow color - Dk Red (#800000)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Bottom of Scarf (right side)- Same instructions as above.

At this point, you may add little dots to the scarf if you choose. See illustration below.

Add a new Raster Layer and name it Hat. Color is Black.

Hat Outline:

Top part of hat- Activate your magic wandImage . Click inside top area of hat. Flood fill Image with the color Dk Gray (#808080).

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 0
Horizontal 0
Opacity 100%
Blur 10
Shadow color - Black (#000000)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Hat Brim (facing your left side)- Activate your magic wand Image. Click inside left area of hat. Flood fill Image with the color Dk Gray (#808080).

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Vertical 1
Horizontal -1
Opacity 100%
Blur 5
Shadow color - Black (#000000)
Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Hat Brim (facing your right side)- Activate your magic wand Image. Click inside right area of hat. Flood fill Image with the color Dk Gray (#808080).

Click Selections, then click Float. Click Effects, 3D Effects, Cut Outs using these settings:

Horizontal 0

Fill Interior with color box UNCHECKED. Deselect

Add a new Raster Layer and name it Holly. Colors are: Outline - Green (#008000), Fill - Lt. Green (#00C000) and Berries - Lt. Red (#FF4040).

Holly Illustration:

Fill:

Activate your magic wand Image. While pressing down your shift key, click inside all blank areas of the holly. Flood fill Image with the color Lt Green (#00C000). There are no Cut Outs for the Holly. Deselect

Enlarged Complete Doodle Snowman Placement Illustration:

Once you have your graphic the way you want it, Merge, Merge Visible. (All Layers)

To save your graphic(s) with a transparent background, click Edit, then click on Copy. Open up your Animation Shop. Click Edit, then click on Paste....as a new animation. Save as a gif from there and you're finished!
